A natural burial is a gentle, eco-friendly alternative to traditional funerals, and Cardiff & The Vale Natural Burial Meadow offers just that. Located in the peaceful countryside just outside Cardiff, this beautiful space is calm, quiet and deeply connected to nature. It’s a place to pause, reflect, and return to the earth.
The meadow sits between wildflower grassland and native woodland. To the west, the meadows are sheltered by trees; to the east, the landscape opens out with views across the Vale of Glamorgan, from the Garth Mountain and Castell Coch to Caerphilly Mountain and Craig Llysfaen.

Natural burial, sometimes called green burial, is a simple, environmentally-friendly way to be laid to rest.
Unlike conventional burials that may involve embalming chemicals, veneered coffins, imported stone or concrete vaults, natural burials use biodegradable materials and low-impact practices, allowing your body to return gently to the earth.
It’s a kinder option for nature, and a more personal one too.

We offer two types of natural burial at Cardiff & The Vale:
Whole-body natural burial
Ashes burial
Families can choose side-by-side plots, combine ashes in one plot, or inter ashes alongside a full burial.
You can select your preferred location in the burial ground, whether tucked into the trees or in an open meadow with sweeping views.
Every ceremony is unique. You can hold a quiet, simple gathering or something more involved. There's no one way to say goodbye.
You can pay upfront or spread the cost over 10 or 20 months.
Whether you're looking to secure a plot or simply want to know more, we’re here to help.
Fill in the form and one of our team will be in touch. There’s no pressure, just kind, straightforward guidance.
We always recommend visiting the meadow in person to feel the atmosphere for yourself. The pedestrian gate is always open, so you’re welcome to wander freely. Or, if you’d prefer a guided tour, we’re happy to arrange one.
