Our natural burial grounds are serene and inclusive spaces where everyone should feel welcome to honour loved ones or find personal peace. However, for individuals with disabilities, visiting these spaces can present unique challenges. Here is some advice for ensuring accessibility to our natural burial grounds and making the experience as meaningful and stress-free as possible.

Check Accessibility in Advance

Please let us know if you will require any assistance, we can make arrangements with the custodian to help and support you. Our custodians are more than willing to assist with navigating the grounds and finding accessible routes. Bringing a companion for support can also enhance your visit.

Priority Parking

We are able to offer priority parking for those who need it. You can print off a Priority Parking Sign and place it in the front windscreen for any car that should park closest to the event. This will alert our custodian who will give you priority and directions to the most suitable parking place.

Plan for Terrain Challenges

Our natural burial grounds are often set in meadows and woodlands. While this enhances their natural beauty, it can also mean dealing with uneven surfaces or muddy conditions. Wearing sturdy, comfortable footwear and bringing mobility aids like walking sticks or wheelchairs with off-road capabilities can make a big difference.

If you notice areas for improvement, please share your feedback with us. We are always open to hear constructive suggestions.

We are working to ensure that our burial grounds are inclusive for people of all abilities. By preparing in advance and collaborating with our custodians, individuals with disabilities can experience the tranquility and connection to nature these spaces offer.

Everyone deserves to feel welcome and comfortable in these meaningful spaces, and with thoughtful planning, we can help become a haven for all.
