The tranquillity of the burial ground at Rotherfield Greys, just outside Henley, is typical of the surrounding landscape of the Chilterns. Unhurried, tranquil and private, it offers something gentler. A place of escape, away from it all.
An unhurried and private place away from the hustle of daily life. Somewhere to remember, replenish and reflect. A place of peace and solitude, when you need it, and love. Here, you and your family can find peace in a truly idyllic setting. And you can bring the dog, have a picnic, or just spend time reflecting and reconnecting.
At Henley-On-Thames, we prioritise the preservation of nature. Our burial practices embrace sustainability and encourage the regeneration of local ecosystems. Plant a tree in memory of someone buried at the burial ground or commission a Welsh slate plaque in their memory, to be mounted inside the memorial frame.
We believe that each individual deserves a unique farewell. Whether you envision a simple ceremony or a more elaborate celebration of life, the burial ground can accommodate the personalised event that reflects and honours the person who has died.
By choosing Henley-On-Thames, you are actively contributing to the preservation of the special woodland for future generations. Our dedication to conservation means that the site will remain a haven of beauty and serenity.
Our knowledgeable and compassionate staff understands the sensitive nature of your decision. We are here to guide you through the process with empathy, ensuring that your experience at Pembrokeshire is both comforting and meaningful.
A natural burial, also called a green burial, is an environmentally friendly and eco-conscious approach to laying a loved one to rest. Unlike conventional burials, which often involve embalming, metal or MDF caskets, imported granite headstones and concrete vaults, natural burials are focused on returning the body to the earth in a way that minimises environmental impact.
Biodegradable materials: The deceased is typically placed in a biodegradable casket, shroud, or container made from natural materials like wood, wicker, or cloth. These materials break down naturally over time.
We provide two options for burials at Henley-On-Thames: one for whole-body natural burials and the other for ashes. You can purchase plots next to each other, bury multiple sets of ashes together, or inter ashes with someone who is having a full burial.
